steve mills graduated from whitworth college (spokane, wa) with a
music degree, wondering "what have i done?"
a music degree
doesn't guarantee any musician a job! however, steve's desire was to
serve the Lord wherever and however He might lead. after a season
of prayer for direction, an opportunity to minister with
joel weldon
at hume lake christian camps opened up, leading to many years
of exciting and fruitful ministry. after writing and performing
extensively with joel, steve began leading worship with his
own band. In addition to providing music for five seasons of hume’s
high school and junior high camps (plus numerous college and family
camps), steve traveled full-time for six years,
ministering at churches and camps around the country.
steve derives tremendous joy from leading worship and writing songs
about his love for Jesus; this has been a driving passion since he
was saved in high school. steve has released eight albums of
original worship and performance music, also placing songs on
maranatha! (“to be like You”),
vineyard (“Alpha &
Omega”), asaph (“she wonders”),
encouraging music
(“day by day”) and little peach albums (many songs). steve
has just released "in retro specs," a compilation featuring favorite songs from his first four albums, as well as
some rare song demos and live recordings from Hume Lake. a new album of worship songs, “come and see,”
is also available now at the cd store!
currently, steve serves as worship pastor for
faith community church
in newhall, CA, after leading contemporary services for eight years
at grace baptist church of santa clarita. steve also continues to
minister at churches and camps like
hume lake, where he met
his wonderful wife, danelle; they have been happily married for 17
years and have four beautiful children (ok, the boys are
"handsome"): jesse (16), brenna (13), nathan (11) and katy (8).
